II GETTING STARTED FIG FACTORY consists of two diskettes, diskette 1 and diskette 2. You should fir table is by the use of the up and down arrows to first locate the color pointers. The result color is the color which will be drawn when the particular combination with the new background color. Simply pressing a number between 0 and 15 changes the pen color. This display shows the 16 colors and how they are numbered from 0 to 15 (black to white). Now press space to return to the picture. Pressing "B" followed by a number changes the background color. Use a CLEAR command to fill the screenr cursor motion. The "M" command (MOVE) moves the cursor to the "X" spot. The "C" command moves the cursor to the center of the screen. the "X" spot is defined by using the "X" command. IV COLOR CONTROL AND THE COLOR TABLE Press "K" to displaysimply hold down the space bar and it will blink, even if you are in ERASE or SKIP mode. The SKIP mode is entered by pressing "S". This command is provided to allow you to move the cursor around without erasing or drawing. Two other commands are foX" location. III YOUR FIRST DRAWING Try using the left, right, loaded and then disk drive 2 will run until the sample data provided on diskette 2 is loaded. Gx GET picture - G1 will cause picture 1 (of 5) stored on diskette to be loaded and displayed. Pictures must be previously stored via the "!x" command. Nress "E" before doing a repeat of the line of figure previously drawn. Fxxx(enter) - This command is used to instantly draw figures previously stored in the FIG FACTORY's symbol area (by the "^" command). F17(enter) for example, will plot figure 17 e. E ERASE - The ERASE command causes the cursor to draw in the current background color. The actual color may also be changed by the transfer option selected. See IV and V above. The erase mode can also be used to erase lines or figures. Just pRAW command is ued to return to the DRAW mode after using ERASE or SKIP. It causes the cursor to draw in the current pencolor or "result" color from the color table. The actual color may also be changed by the transfer option selected. C CENTER the cursor - This command moves the cursor to the center of the screen. D DRAW - The Dven. Press return after a B1. B0-B15 BACKGROUND COLOR - These commands select the background color (same colors as for pencolor, above). This background color is used to fill the screen when a clear screen command is giack, magenta, darkblue, purple, darkgreen, grey1, medblue, lightblue, brown, orange, grey2, pink, green, yellow, aqua, white). Return must be pressed after "1". This is not necessary with the other colors. The actual color drawn will be a function of this given on-screen when you use the "H" command. This will be all you need once you become familiar with the easy one stroke commands. A complete description of each command is given below. 0-15 PENCOLOR - These commands select the pencolor (bl6 or 7. The number is always displayed ot the right on the color table. The transfer option can only be selected while the color table is being displayed. 0-7 are used to select pencolor otherwise. VI COMMAND LIST A summary of all the commands NS There are eight transfer options available, numbered 0 through 7. Refer to your Apple /// manuals for a description of the effects of these options. The normal option is option "0". The transfer option is changed simply by pressing 0,1,2,3,4,5,ystick will draw within an area defined by the TAB setting which was in effect when "J" was pressed. Pressing the joystick BUTTON will cause the joystick control to ERASE instead of draw. Pressing the Joystick SWITCH will cause EXIT of the mode and return control to the other commands. The joystick SWITCH must be OFF to allow entry to the JOYSTICK mode. Set the range of the area to be drawn in by setting TAB. A TAB of 1 allows the largest area and the least control. The range allowed by a TAB of ult value of 10 and (TAB) key is set to 1. Wxxxx(re) - WRITE - This command allows the writing of labels on the picture. After pressing "W", enter the label and press return (or enter). The label will be drawn to the lower right of the cursor locating range of the joystick. The range is smaller with increasing TAB values. (TAB) key - This key toggles the TAB value from the current setting (see above) to 1 or from 1 to the TAB value. When the screen is cleared, the TAB is set back to its defasubtract 1 from the TAB value in current use. The current value of the TAB is always displayed on the "HELP" page unter "(TAB)". The TAB setting defines the length of lines drawn by the arrows. In addition, it is used in JOYSTICK mode to define the draw a "D" or "E" command. Txx(ret) command - The "T" command sets the TAB size to any desired value from 1 to 139. The actual TAB can be toggled between this value and 1 by using the (TAB) key (see below). The "+" and "-" keys can be used to add 1 or L) execpt that the cursor does not move. The line is drawn from the cursor to the last "X" spot but the cursor remains where it started. S SKIP command - This command alows cursor movement without either drawing or erasing. Exit the SKIP mode wither to SAVE your picture before using the "P" command! Q QUIT command - You may use this command to quit the program. You will be reminded to save your figure or picture. R REVERSE LINE command - This command is the same as the LINE command (y of these instructions will be printed. After using the "P" command, the system must be RE-INITIALIZED! When the printout is complete, always press "CONTROL-RESET"! The program then sequences through the initialization just as it did on START-UP. Remembommand. P PRINT - With a Silentype printer attached, the "P" command will PRINT the picture currently being displayed. It is printed in large size and rotated. If this command is used while the "HELP" page of instructions is being displayed, a cop the one above except that the "open apple" key must be depressed with the "O". Then a completely filled in circle will be drawn. In the ERASE mode, a reverse circle can be drawn on an INVERSE screen. III YOUR FIRST D Disk drive 1 will run until the program is loaded and then disk drive 2 will run until the sample data provided on diskette 2 is loaded. The current FIG FACTORY symbols and figures are displayed briefly. You are then instructed to press "H" to continue.B" on the rear of the Apple ///. If you have a Silentype printer, make sure it is plugged into Port "A". Insert FIG FACTORY diskette 1 into the Apple ///'s built-in drive. Insert diskette 2 into external drive 2 (.d2). Turn on the Apple ///. s, diskette 1 and diskette 2. You should first make a copy of these two diskettes using your system utilities diskette. Keep the original diskettes for backup. Now turn OFF the Apple ///. If you have a joystick, make sure it is plugged into Port "me time. FIG FACTORY uses the Apple ///'s highest resolution format (560 X 192) for the most precise drawings possible. A unique tab system allows you to make drawings to scale very easily. II GETTING STARTED FIG FACTORY consists of two diskette plotted instantly on your color monitor simply by entering the figure number. Other commands provide lines, circles, cursor control, picture storage and retrieval, printing and joystick control. Up to 5 hi-resolution pictures may be drawn at the saApple /// computer. You design your own set of symbols of figures simply by drawing them on the screen, using the powerful set of single stroke instructions provided. Up to 102 figures or symbols may be saved on a single diskette. These may then be. To find the cursor at any time, simply hold down the space bar and it will blink, even if you are in ERASE or SKIP mode. The SKIP mode is entered by pressing "S". This command is provided to allow you to move the cursor around without erasing or drawing. Two other commands are for cursor motion. The "M" command (MOVE) moves the cursor to the "X" spot. The "C" command moves the cursor to the center of the screen. the "X" spot is defined by using the "X" command. IV COMMAND LIST APRINT the picture currently being displayed. It is printed in large size and rotated. If this command is used while the "HELP" page of instructions is being displayed, a copy of these instructions will be printed. After using the "P" command, the system draws a circle of radius xx where xx can be any number from 1 to 180. The center of the circle is defined by the current cursor location. (ENTER) must be pressed after the radius. P PRINT - With a Silentype printer attached, the "P" command will mand). Then it moves the cursor to the "X" spot. If you do not want the cursor to move, use the "R" command instead. M MOVE command - This command moves the cursor to the "X" spot without drawing any lines. Oxx CIRCLE command - This commandode by momentarily pressing the joystick switch, move the cursor and then return via the "J" command. L Line command - This command does two things. First it draws a line from the current cursor location to the last "X" spot (defined by the "X" combe drawn in by setting TAB. A TAB of 1 allows the largest area and the least control. The range allowed by a TAB of 10 is about average. Larger tabs allow even more control, but less area to draw in. To move the area being drawn in, exit the JOYSTICK mthe joystick control to ERASE instead of draw. Pressing the Joystick SWITCH will cause exit of the mode and return control to the other commands. The joystick SWITCH must be off to allow entry to the JOYSTICK mode. Set the range of the area to then done using the joystick instead of the other commands, which are disabled until this mode is exited. The joystick will draw within an area defined by the TAB setting which was in effect when "J" was pressed. Pressing the joystick BUTTON will cause is command will cause display of the FIG FACTORY instruction summary list. It will not affect the picture. It may be used at any time except when in the JOYSTICK mode. J JOYSTICK mode - This command causes entry into the JOYSTICK mode. Drawing ise loaded and displayed. E ERASE - The ERASE command is used to erase lines of figures. Just press "E" before doing a repeat of the line or figure previously drawn. Fxxx(enter) - This command is used to instantly draw figures previously stored in the FIG FACTOnd clears the picture area. Don't forget to save your picture before using it! C CENTER the cursor - This command moves the cursor to the center of the screen. D DRAW - The DRAW command is ued to return to the DRAW mode after using ERASE orsplays all 48 of the current FIG FACTORY warehouse of symbols and figures. Note that each row has a number on the left which is the number of the left-most symbol in that row. The other symbols are numbered in sequence (8 in each row). Note - this comma summary of all the commands is given on-screen when you use the "H" command. This will be all you need once you become familiar with the easy one stroke commands.
